What is a Hidden Disability?

by Holly Bramwell on July 16, 2019

There used to be a time when 'Disability' was purely recognised as something physical and visible, but there has been a rise in awareness for those who have a 'Hidden' or 'Invisible' disability. Here are just some of them:

  • Anxiety
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  • Crohn's Disease
  • Diabetes
  • Ehlers Danlos Syndrome
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
  • Personality Disorders

Despite public services and other organisations promoting the need to recognise Hidden Disabilities, it is still something that hasn't been adopted by the wider society.

As part of an initiative to raise awareness about Hidden Disabilities, we created the tag with lanyard to be worn out in public and make life a little easier for the wearer.

It is taking some time, but it's great to see that society is adapting the way all disabilities are perceived, even if it is small steps.
